Description

SnipeIT is an open-source IT asset management tool. It serves as the central database for all corporate hardware, licenses, and the mobile device lending pool.

What we track in SnipeIT:

• Laptops and computers (Mac, Windows)
• Mobile devices (phones, tablets — lending pool)
• Network equipment (switches, APs, firewalls)
• Accessories (monitors, keyboards, mice, adapters)
• Software licenses
• Asset checkouts and protocols

Access and Login

• URL: available on internal network or VPN
• Login: AD/LDAP account or local SnipeIT account
• Roles: Admin (IT team), Asset Manager (Tomáš, Jakub), Read-only (others)

Procedure — Add New Asset

1. Log in to SnipeIT → Assets → Create New
2. Fill in:
   • Asset Tag: inventory number (e.g. ETN-NTB-0123)
   • Category: Laptop / Desktop / Mobile / Printer
   • Serial Number: device serial number
   • Status: Ready to Deploy / Deployed / In Maintenance
   • Purchase Date / Cost: acquisition date and price
3. Click Save

Procedure — Check Out Asset to Employee

1. Open asset detail → Checkout
2. Select Checkout to: User
3. Select user from the list (synced from AD)
4. Set Expected Checkin date (optional)
5. Click Checkout — generates handover protocol (PDF)

Procedure — Check In Asset (Return)

1. Open asset detail → Checkin
2. Add note (device condition, reason for return)
3. Set new Status (Ready to Deploy / In Maintenance / Archived)
4. Click Checkin

[Company]-[Type]-[Number]
ETN-NTB-xxxx   — Etnetera Notebook
ETN-DKT-xxxx   — Etnetera Desktop
ETN-MOB-xxxx   — Etnetera Mobile/Tablet
GC-NTB-xxxx    — Green:Code Notebook

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Cannot log in	Check AD login; verify LDAP settings in Admin → Settings → LDAP
Asset not found in SnipeIT	Search by serial number or Asset Tag; check Archived tab
Duplicate asset	Check by serial number; merge or delete duplicate
